Our Chef if White Hot, Your Chef....

We're #14, one right under Thomas Keller's The French Laundry and a few above Wolfgang Puck's Spago. Not a bad spot.

#punkrockwarlord, Coronado, DrinkAbout & Noble

Greetings. Hot enough? Beer makes it better.

And to that end, tomorrow (as in Wednesday) is DRINKABOUT.
And over at Tiger! Tiger! we have a SPECIAL EDITION DRINKABOUT:

It's our Coronado Brewing 18th Anniversary Event
From 5pm till closing we will have the following fantastic beers on tap:

18th Anniversary IPA
Hibiscus IPA
Homerun Hefe
Belgian ImPaler
Rauch Sham Bo
Barrelman's Brown
Berry the Hatchet
Frog's Breath
Cream of The Hop

THURSDAY is also Joe Strummer's birthday. In case you felt like celebrating with a beer.

And then at Tiger! Tiger! on Friday & Saturday night, NOBLE ALEWORKS is taking over the IPAtio Bar with the following beers on tap:

Session
Big Whig
Tongue Tickles
Chinook Showers
Plus, Evan will be getting us some Naughty Sauce and various specialties for inside.

The following week, on Friday the 29th Tiger! Tiger! has a Double Mountain Showcase with 11 beers and their Brewer, Kyle. Mark your calendars, those are some crazy fun beers.

Over at PANAMA 66... yeah, that new place in Balboa Park,
next to the San Diego Museum of Art...

We are serving lunch daily from 11-3 (and BRUNCH on Saturday and Sundays, 10-3)

But this Thursday, August 21, we will have the Bar Open till 8pm. And in case you haven't drank in the moonlight of the Park and Museums, it's kinda awesome. Come on by. Note we will not be open this Friday night. So come Thursday!

Also at the Park:

Monday, August 25th is the final Film in the Garden of the season:  Wim Wenders' Until the End of the World. The P66 bar will stay open until 9pm with full bar and some limited sandwiches. No outside alcohol allowed!

And since we are talking Balboa Park we have two very important shout-outs:

SHOUT #1:  Sorolla & America is coming to an end and to celebrate its success the Museum is staying open till 8pm Saturday, August 23 through Tuesday, August 26. This is a super opportunity to catch this breathtaking show "after hours."

SHOUT #2: The Mingei Cafe is opening this week! Those of us working at the Park are looking very forward to getting our lattes and mochas there. They are located behind the Nikki-gator inside the southern most door of the Mingei Museum, of course.

IPA BAR, Brunch & Donuts vs Doughnuts

IPA BAR every Friday & Saturday night skip the line and head for the hops at our outdoor bar where we feature 4 generously hoppy IPAs without the wait.

Every Tuesday night we select a few beers to feature for only $3, but for only 3 hours. It's 5-8pm every Tuesday night.

$8 steins every day. That's over 33oz of beer every day til 6pm. Tues-Thurs 5-6pm. Fri-Sun 11:30am-6pm...and just $9.99 the rest of the time.

Have you been by for Sunday beers & brunch? We open one hour early every Sunday at 10:30am for you doughnut pleasure. Yep, house-made doughnuts, chicken on a biscuit, biscuits & gravy, C&T Collective coffee and more.

Firestone Walker Showcase on Wednesday, August 13th we will feature Parabola, Opal, Lil Opal, Double DBA, XVII (17th) Anniversary, Sucaba and more. That's just nuts.

DONUT vs DOUGHNUT

You know how Chef Sharon started making doughnuts every Sunday as part of our Brunch menu. They were vegan, but both omnivores and vegans loved them. She made some news regarding people's love. And then the Cooking Channel called.

Tiger!Tiger! and Panama 66's Executive Chef Sharon Wilson (along with Tiger's Chef de Cuisine Nick Yoder) competed on Donut Showdown on the Cooking Channel and her episode airs next Friday, August 8th at 7pm.

Come join us as we watch the episode on the BIG SCREEN at T!T! and see who won! We honestly don't know! No one but Sharon and Nick know and they ain't telling!

Here is the description of the Ep: A second-generation donut maker from Stanford, Florida, a cafe owner from New Orleans, Louisiana and an executive chef from San Diego, California compete in a speedy elimination round with Strawberry Gelatin as the mystery ingredient. The last two standing compete for $10,000 in a 1950s-themed Donut Showdown.

Maybe we will see you there...

And that's all folks. At least for today... hope to see you round one of our places soon. Stay gold, Ponyboy.
